As long as the RIA management fulfills its duties and does not make mistakes, there is no reason to fire them. This was stated at a briefing to journalists by Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov, who today spoke with the directors of the regional road departments in the country.
He explained that the biggest problem in the agency is the lack of staff.
"Employees are currently leaving en masse due to the pressure, if we start firing them, there will be no one to fix potholes and make calculations".
At the meeting, it became clear that the road agency has not fulfilled a large part of its commitments due to the lack of contracts. Currently, work is underway to secure 6 critical points before the upcoming holidays.
"It is planned to organize traffic at the busiest points so that there is no danger of traffic accidents and those leaving large cities will have priority, respectively, when returning - so that there are no traffic jams and dangers of accidents".
All deadlines for the repairs of the already announced list of 36 critical points in the country have been uploaded to the RIA website. Accelerating the procedures, which depend on the regional ministry and the agency, is being discussed. However, a large part of the regulations must be coordinated with other institutions.
"For individual sections, we are commenting on launching the procedures for selecting contractors as quickly as possible so that we can make up for all that has been lost in terms of time. Stakes have been placed in Bulgarian Spring, work is underway on Mikre, this will be accelerated. We will invite the Sofia Municipality to a meeting, because there is a serious dispute about the section to Pancharevo - they should maintain it, but they do not comply with it, if we do not reach a decision, then we can sue them".
The minister said that he supports the protests and the people are right that the state must take urgent measures.
