If there is no audibility and constructive dialogue, the transport unions will take more radical measures such as stopping public transport in Sofia completely.
This was pointed out to BNR-Radio Sofia by Alexander Shopov, Chairman of the Federation of Transport Unions at CITUB.
"In the first meetings in the Sofia Municipality, we stated that we would not allow a symbolic increase again. Today we were unable to find a common language, but the talks continue. We submitted the protest declaration to the Ministry of Finance. We have written good things there, but the financial part is the most important", Shopov emphasized.
The Ministry of Finance states that in the state budget for this year there is an increase in the subsidy for intra-city transport by 17 million leva, but in the words of the trade union leader, they "will be enough for a little over 100 leva increase".
"We want the decisions to be made at the negotiating table, but it had to come to this. Our patience is running out. We expect a meeting after Easter at which all parties will sit at the table to find a way out, not to transfer responsibilities", Shopov added.
He recalled that Sofia pays the most taxes and social security contributions to the state budget. Capital expenditures never go as planned, and this item can be used to find a reserve for salaries.
"This is what we would suggest if we were invited to a meeting."
