Boris Bonev: Taxes in Sofia should be raised - 1

We may be ready to give those working in public transport 5,000 leva to their salaries, but the problem is where this money will come from. The Ministry of Finance tried to wash its hands of the mayors of the municipalities. This was stated by Boris Bonev from “Save Sofia”, part of the ruling majority in the SOS, on Nova News.

“It is important that when you want money, agree to reforms, and also say where this money will come from. I expect a serious position from the unions and for prioritizing public transport. To a large extent, the problem is not in gross salaries – for metro drivers, they reach 4,000 leva. What is more important is what the working conditions are like - the depots where these people work every day are in poor condition. The vehicles are in a serious condition. The next step to improve the working conditions of drivers in public transport is to improve the working conditions. Salary is not the only factor“, he commented in connection with today's protest by workers in the capital's public transport.

“Why is there no shortage of drivers in the metro, in the Capital Electric Transport as well, and in the Capital Autotransport the shortage is huge? The new boards, elected by the economic majority in the SOS, are deliberately working to sabotage the work of the Capital Autotransport so that some of the lines can be given to concessions to private companies“, Bonev is categorical.

He pointed out that a person applies and no one calls him for two months. The company also did not know that they could turn to the labor office: “There are many mistakes by the company's management.“

According to him, people, obviously connected to GERB, are boycotting and sabotaging the work of the Sofia Municipality.

“We are waiting to see the final budget and how the competition for chief architect of Sofia will develop. We are ready to lose our trust in Mayor Vasil Terziev. We want results, where are they?“, he also asked.

“Taxes need to be raised in Sofia. An increase is needed especially for building permits“, Boris Bonev also said.
