Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov met with the British Ambassador to Bulgaria Nathaniel Copsey. The two discussed the possibilities for deepening the strategic cooperation between Bulgaria and the UK in key areas - security, economy, migration and sustainable development, with a focus on concrete results and effective coordination mechanisms, outside the framework of formal alliances.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the UK remains a key partner of Bulgaria in the dynamic geopolitical environment and enhanced cooperation within NATO, including in the fight against disinformation and hybrid threats.

The possibilities for expanding economic relations were also discussed, with an emphasis on investments, innovations and energy security. Zafirov outlined the development of nuclear energy as a strategic priority, including the construction of new capacities and diversification of sources.

In the context of European integration, the Deputy Prime Minister presented Bulgaria's progress on the path to membership in the Eurozone and the OECD, emphasizing that these are key steps towards a modern, sustainable economy and a clearly defined foreign policy direction.

Special attention was also paid to the Bulgarian community in the UK. Gratitude was expressed for the consistent commitment of British institutions to its protection and access to services.

“This partnership has the potential to be even more useful – not only because we have common values, but because we have common responsibilities. Time does not tolerate formalities – action is needed. Today's meeting was a step in this direction“, concluded Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov.
