Petar Vitanov: The elections are the territory where Peevski does not have strong positions, unlike Borisov - 1

One hundred days after the start of the mandate of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet, the political scene in Bulgaria continues to be marked by tension between institutions and internal contradictions in the ruling majority.

One hundred days of political tension

"The issue is that these remarks are being exchanged at an extremely low level. If there are serious accusations against President Radev, his entourage and the people who currently form the majority and the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet - they must be consistent and clear. Otherwise, they sound like interpersonal bickering that discredits both institutions in the eyes of the people," commented Boris Yachev from "Blue Bulgaria" in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".
He refrained from commenting on the case of the indictment of former Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, arguing with the lack of consistency and results of the prosecutor's actions in the past.

Yachev sharply criticized the government's lack of a program and the fact that several months after its compilation, a plan with specific priorities and deadlines has not been presented.

He expressed concern about the so-called "feudalization" of the ministries, where each party has taken control of certain sectors and acts with its party interests in mind, rather than national priorities.

The President and the Public's Feeling
"President Radev showed tolerance by giving the political parties three months to form a cabinet. What he said today reflects the public's feeling. It is obvious that this is a minority cabinet, supported by the MRF. Borisov himself admitted it – twice", former MEP Petar Vitanov told Bulgaria ON AIR.

He stressed that deputy ministers have not yet been appointed, which leads to a situation in which official staff continue to manage ministries – an indicator, in his opinion, of behind-the-scenes influence.

According to Vitanov, the longer this cabinet exists, the more dependent it becomes on "New Beginning".
Apparently stable in conditions of instability
The two guests united around the opinion that there is no clear management program, which, according to Vitanov, leads to "apparent stability concealing real instability".

He emphasized that there are currently floating majorities in parliament, and without a stable political core, major national goals cannot be set and achieved.

The two analysts agreed that Borisov has an instinct for self-preservation and may decide to withdraw his support from the cabinet at a time when this is most advantageous for him. Vitanov said that the elections are the territory where Peevski does not have strong positions, unlike Borisov, who has a stable party structure.
