Xavi is convinced that Barcelona's season would have been a "disaster" had he not announced his decision to leave the Spanish champions at the end of the campaign, BTA reported.
The 44-year-old coach of the "blue-red" revealed after the 3:5 home loss to Villarreal in January that he will leave after two and a half seasons at Camp Nou. He then said that it would be positive for the footballers.
"With the decision made to leave, I was sure it would be this way. Otherwise, it would have been a disaster, and I told the president," commented the specialist.
Earlier this week, Barca narrowly beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 away to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
"I tell you that at every press conference. "Nothing has changed," the world and European champion with the Spanish national team is emphatic.
On Saturday, Barcelona visit Cadiz in a Primera Division match.
"Next week there is a Clasico with Real Madrid. If we win tomorrow, it could leave us five points behind first place. If we lose tomorrow, everything in the championship ends", Xavi added.
