Jessica Fox became the first athlete to win gold medals and on a canoe and on a kayak in fast waters, reported sportal.bg.
Australian Jessica Fox defended her Olympic title in the women's fast-water single-person canoe race.
Earlier this week, she also won the gold medal in single kayak, becoming the first competitor to win Olympic titles in both types of boats at the same Olympics.
Tokyo 2020 champion Jessica Fox completed the course in 99.06 seconds, with a 2 second penalty for touching gate #19.
However, this did not prevent her from finishing in first place with a time of 101.06 seconds.
The Czech Gabriela Satkova was fastest in the qualifiers and then finished with a time of 105.55, which allowed her to start last in the actual race.
However, Satkova rowed quite poorly in the final descent and ended up in 7th place with 114.22 seconds with 2 penalty seconds added to the score.
Germany's Elena Lilik remained in 2nd place with a time of 103.54 seconds, just to consolidate the progress she has demonstrated since 2023.
Third place and the bronze medal went to the young American Evie Liebfarth, who remained with a time of 109.95 seconds and a lag of 8.89 seconds.
In the end, it turned out that none of the canoeists managed to get close to the winner, except Lilik.
“Oh my God. "She went under 100," said her father Richard, who commented on the race for Australia's Channel 9.
There was one slightly nervous moment in the entire race when the judges had to review the descent of Satkova, who was in turn after Fox. But the Czech woman's final was very problematic and so she dropped out of the medal fight.
