Three titles were won by Bulgarian wrestlers on the third day of the "Dan Kolov - Nikola Petrov" tournament in Varna, BTA reported.
Olympic champion Semen Novikov had a contested final with Iranian Yasin Yazdi, who won 7:4. In the last seconds, his opponent tried an attack, but was unable to turn the result around in the 87 kg category of the classic style. Kiril Milov, European champion and second in the world, also became the winner in his 97 kg category in the classics after a technical knockout 10:0, against the young Kaloyan Ivanov.
In the same category, Yoan Dimitrov took bronze after a quick victory with a technical knockout - 12:0 over Dimitar Atanasov. European vice-champion Mikay Naim also had a tough match, but still managed to pull out a 2:2 draw against Azerbaijani Murad Hagverdiev in the 65 kg freestyle.
Ivaylo Tisov had another successful match against Georgian Nika Zangaladze in the lightest 57 kg freestyle. This time, however, his opponent won and took the title. The two also met in the groups, with Tisov winning the fight with an impressive score of 17:8. On the way to the final, the Bulgarian recorded three more prestigious victories.
Nikol Alexandrova (53 kg) also finished with silver in the women's event. And the bronze medal went to Presiyan Mihov in the 74 kg freestyle category, who until the last minute was 1:3 behind the Romanian Gigi Subtirits, the European vice-champion under 20, but managed to take two victory points for the final 3:3.
The other bronze medal went to Ramazan Ramazanov without a fight. The champion in the category was the American Quincy Monday, who defeated the Ukrainian Ivan Kusiak 9:2 in the final. The day before, his brother Kennedy became first in the 79 kg freestyle. Their father - Kenny Monday, Olympic champion from Seoul 88, also became a medalist in Varna, at the world championship in 1991 he took silver.
For tomorrow's finals, 14 Bulgarian wrestlers have qualified, among them Georgi Ivanov, last year's winner of the "Dan Kolov" belt, as well as Ahmed Bataev, Abu-Muslim Amaev. The matches start at 11 am, the finals will be at 12 pm.
