Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on social network X that the White House is "showing its hypocrisy" by accusing Russia of meddling in the election, but "doesn't mind when Volodymyr Zelensky is "playing" with the candidate of the Democratic Party in the USA, Kamala Harris, reports RIA Novosti.
"The US administration is squealing like a pig about how other countries, including Russia, are meddling in their elections. At the same time... Zelensky is shamelessly playing along with Kamala Harris by visiting the wavering state of Pennsylvania," Medvedev points out.
Earlier, a group of congressmen demanded an investigation into the visit of the Ukrainian president to a munitions plant in Pennsylvania, saying that the visit may be related to several violations of US law.
According to the congressmen, the fact that Zelensky was accompanied by high-ranking Democratic Party officials before the presidential election may be a violation of a local law that prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activity while on duty.
Zelensky begins his visit to the United States on September 22, visiting an ammunition factory for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
