While US President-elect Donald Trump decides on its policy towards Ukraine, many things in Europe will be stopped, including the supply of long-range missiles to Kiev, Russian lawmaker Alexei Pushkov said.

„No matter what they say in Brussels about the eternal support of Kiev, in many European capitals all this will be put on hold until Trump decides on his policy towards Ukraine, and the topic of long-range missiles capable to strike Russian territory will be closed, as confirmed at the meeting in Budapest”, he wrote on the Telegram channel.

He noted that this would be up to the US, not Europe.

„Neither Starmer nor Macron will now take major independent steps in Ukraine that are not coordinated with the future leadership of the United States,” the senator added.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán previously stated that after the election of Trump, European countries began to “move towards a review of financial obligations to Ukraine”, Pushkov noted.

According to him, if the US does not actively participate in supporting Ukraine, European countries will also stop doing so.

„Trump is hated in liberal Europe, but even with him in the White House, all the most important things in Western politics will be decided in Washington,”, concluded Pushkov.

At an event at Bellevue Palace to mark the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was criticized by the writer Marco Martin for his attitude towards Russia, writes Bild. /p>

Martin criticized former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder for his cooperation with Moscow and accused Steinmeier of lobbying for the construction of Nord Stream.

"The President almost lashed out at me in his rage and was having a hard time calming down. "He has repeatedly angrily accused me of defaming him," Martin told the publication.

Steinmeier, according to eyewitnesses, during the writer's speech “breathed heavily with a trembling mouth, clearly trying to suppress his emotions”.
