Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan believes that with the outbreak of hostilities in the Kursk region, the crisis has become more unpredictable and the risks have increased.
„Another pressing problem that must be solved to maintain global security is the Russian-Ukrainian war. It led to a review of defence, food, energy, security, communications and transport policies. Before Kursk, the war was fought only on Ukrainian territory, no means of mass destruction were used. Now, given recent events, the situation has become more risky and unpredictable. The escalation shows us how the arms race is growing and how close the nuclear threat is, Fidan noted during a speech at the TRT World Media Forum in Istanbul.
He opined that “until the conflict is resolved, both sides will continue to rearm and consolidate their alliances.“
„Despite these risks, we must still prioritize diplomacy and dialogue to end the war with a permanent ceasefire and a lasting peace agreement. Turkey remains ready to make every effort to ensure peace negotiations, Fidan said.
