Immediately after the unprecedented vote of no confidence that brought down the French government last night, the far-left party "Disobedient France" called on President Emmanuel Macron to resign, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

The president of the party's group in the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament) Mathilde Panot called on Emmanuel Macron to "go" and that early presidential elections be called.

However, the future of Macron, whose mandate expires in 2027, is not constitutionally bound by a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier, notes AFP.

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen said pressure on President Macron to resign is mounting, but only he has the final say on such a decision.

Earlier, MPs from the extreme right and the extreme left supported the vote of no confidence against the prime minister and his government with a majority of 331 votes.

According to the French newspaper "Figaro" Barnier is expected to hand in his resignation and that of President Emmanuel Macron's government tomorrow.

After the vote of no confidence, the French presidency announced that at 8 p.m. local time, Macron will make a televised address to the nation.
