Five people, including a child, were killed and several others were injured after a shooting Monday at a Christian school in "Abundant Life" in Madison County, Wisconsin, USA, the local police chief said, quoted by the AP.
Madison Police Chief Sean Barnes said the suspect in the shooting was also among the dead.
Previously, multiple injuries were reported in the shooting Monday at the Christian school "Abundant Life" in Madison, the state capital, police said.
"This remains an active and ongoing investigation," Madison police said in a statement. "Additional information will be released as it becomes available. People are advised to avoid the area at this time."
The school has about 390 students, from kindergarten to high school, according to its website. It is located on a 28-acre campus that serves students from about 200 families from the Dane County area.
Local television footage from the scene outside the school showed dozens of police cars, ambulances and fire trucks parked on the streets outside the school.
America has long had an epidemic of school shootings on a scale unlike any other country in the world, but it has struggled with any meaningful efforts to curb the phenomenon, especially when it comes to restricting access to high-powered firearms.
Police have announced road closures and asked people to avoid the area.
