A 5.9 magnitude earthquake shook Cuba this night, with the tremor being felt across a wide area of the island, quoted by BTA.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake is located at a depth of 25 km.
Feeled in the eastern provinces
The earthquake was felt particularly strongly in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma, where minor damage was recorded. Additionally, tremors were also felt in other eastern provinces such as Guantanamo, Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila. However, there are currently no reports of casualties.
Epicenter and affected areas
The epicenter of the earthquake was 52 km from the city of Bartolomé Maso, located on the east coast of Cuba. The town is home to about 53,000 people, and no significant damage has yet been reported in the region.
