Twenty Syrian citizens aged 4 to 50, without travel documents, were found by Romanian border police in the city of Giurgiu after entering the country as passengers on two buses, Agerpres reported, quoted by BTA.

According to a statement from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police in Giurgiu, officers stopped two buses traveling on the Bulgaria-Romania and Bulgaria-Germany routes for inspection.

The inspection found that eight Syrian citizens aged between 5 and 45, traveling on one of the buses, did not have the necessary documents to justify the purpose of the trip. The individuals concerned were in the process of obtaining protection on the territory of Bulgaria.

The border police also found that another twelve Syrian citizens aged between 4 and 50, travelling on the second bus and planning to reach Germany, also did not have the necessary documents to justify the purpose of their journey. They had the right to temporary stay in Bulgaria.

In accordance with the Romanian-Bulgarian protocol, the twenty Syrians were handed over to the Bulgarian border authorities for further investigation and taking the necessary measures.
