Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced today that at his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, held shortly before Christmas, he secured the necessary gas supplies for Slovakia, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Fico and Putin met in the Kremlin on December 22, but did not issue official statements after the conversation. A video posted tonight on the prime minister's Facebook account shed more light on the content of the meeting.
“I had to secure gas at least for domestic consumption in Slovakia“, Fico said, adding that the supply was guaranteed without a price increase.
The meeting took place shortly before Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian gas to Europe, including Slovakia, from the beginning of 2024.
The Slovak prime minister did not reveal further details about the agreements.
