Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stressed the importance of cooperation in key areas with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin during a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine, also known as the “Rammstein“ group, Ukrinform reported, referring to Umerov's post on “Facebook“, BTA reports.
“I held an important meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, during which we discussed preparations for future meetings and cooperation in key areas,“ Umerov wrote.
According to him, the leaders of the group will approve roadmaps for each of the eight areas of cooperation today. These documents, developed by Ukraine and its partners, will outline the strategic goals and main needs in the field of military assistance until the end of 2027.
The documents will lay the foundation for the distribution of assistance in key areas such as air defense, artillery, armored vehicles, drones, air force and maritime security. “But there is still much work to be done“, the Ukrainian minister noted.
The United States, together with its partners and allies in the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, has already provided military assistance worth over $126 billion to Ukraine, Ukrinform reminded.
