St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport was closed for several hours on Sunday due to heavy snowfall, Reuters reported.
Russia's aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, said all flights were suspended at around 08:30 local time (05:30 GMT) and operations were scheduled to resume after a short break. Despite initial plans, the resumption of operations has been postponed until weather conditions improve.
After improving weather conditions, Pulkovo airport has resumed receiving and sending flights.
Artyom Korenyako, a spokesman for Rosaviatsia, announced that during the closure, 33 planes that were destined for St. Petersburg were redirected to other airports, mainly in Moscow.
