Russia has every reason to believe that the attack on the compressor station in Krasnodar Krai, which supplies gas via "TurkStream", was carried out at the behest of the US and UK. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia.
"The attack on the compressor station of the "TurkStream" gas pipeline in Krasnodar Krai, carried out on January 11, stands out in the series of attacks by the Kiev regime. Let me remind you that the previous day the Ukrainian president refused to renew the contract for pumping natural gas through Ukrainian territory to Europe, Nebenzia said at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
According to him, Moscow has every reason to believe that the attack on the infrastructure of "Turkish Stream" was carried out by Washington and London, interested in the EU buying expensive LNG from the United States. We should not forget that these two countries are preventing the launch of an objective international investigation into the terrorist attack on "Nord Stream" in September 2022. The conclusions, as they say, are obvious".
Ukraine has attacked part of the infrastructure of the "Turkish Stream" gas pipeline, trying to damage a compressor station in the Krasnodar Territory. This was announced earlier this week by the Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD).
According to the statement, Russia shot down nine Ukrainian drones that attempted to attack the facility. No casualties or major damage were reported.
In its statement, the MOD indicated that falling fragments from one drone caused minor damage to the building and equipment of a gas metering station, but emergency teams quickly repaired it.
"Reuters" could not confirm the incident.
"Turkish Stream" and "Blue Stream", which run along the bottom of the Black Sea to Turkey, are Russia's last pipeline routes for supplying gas to Europe. Earlier this year, Ukraine refused to renew a five-year transit agreement that allowed Russia to continue transporting gas through Ukraine despite the war between the two countries.
The pipeline starts at the Russkaya compressor station outside the city of Anapa and runs to the city of Kıyıköy in Turkey, before heading to Europe. The compressor stations are used to stabilize the pressure and flow of gas.
As a reminder, on January 11, Ukraine struck Russian targets in annexed Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, and Rostov Oblast. Air raid sirens were sounded in the city of Anapa.
Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary, told reporters that the incident was "a continuation of the line of energy terrorism that Kiev is following".
