Resolving the conflict in Ukraine is a priority in Donald Trump's program. Marco Rubio defined Russia as an aggressor and stated that this is a process that should begin as quickly as possible and with concessions from both sides. She took into account the fact that Trump changed his tone in Davos. "The US President said that Zelensky is ready to negotiate. He put all the responsibility for the negotiations on Russia," our diplomat emphasized.
“President Trump is used to winning and advertising victory in advance. He would not allow himself to appear weak. That is why he will make efforts to stop the war”, Poptodorova believes.
“Ukraine should not be allowed to become a client of Moscow, Ukraine should not be allowed to give up sovereign rights over territory. It is very important that a consensus was formed in Davos on the search for a solution to the war issue. We should think about guarantees, but without escalating the conflict,” she believes.
“Trump will bet very heavily on the energy instrument. The issue with Saudi Arabia has developed very jokingly. He will not follow any ritual in diplomacy, but will go where his interest leads him. Oil production will increase and America will become the leading country in exports”,”,” predicted our former ambassador to the US.
Elena Poptodorova also commented on the release of the Bulgarian sailors from the “Galaxy Leader”: “Bulgaria, in its most important national goals, cannot solve issues of an important nature alone. This can only be done within the framework of the solidarity of the EU and NATO”, she said.
