The pace of the Russian army's advance remains high. As a result, daily losses in February will still exceed 1,000 people per day, the British Ministry of Defense said in a post on the X social network, RBC-Ukraine reports.
As noted in the report, January 2025 became the second most expensive month of the war for Russia with a total of 48,240 casualties (killed and wounded), reported by the General Staff of Ukraine. In December 2024, 48,670 Russian casualties were recorded. This is the most expensive month of the war for Russia so far.
According to British intelligence, Russia lost over 50,000 people in 2025. and over 837,000 since it entered Ukraine in February 2022.

January 2025 also saw the second highest average daily Russian casualties in the war against Ukraine - 1,556. This is not a significant change compared to December 2024, when the total number of casualties was 1,570 - the highest average daily number of Russian casualties in the conflict to date.
"In February 2025 "Russian casualties are likely to continue to average over 1,000 per day, reflecting the high pace of Russian operations and offensives," the British Ministry of Defence said.
