Deadly January! Russia lost more soldiers in a month near Pokrovsk than in the Second Chechen War - 1

The Russian army has lost more personnel in the battles in the Pokrovsk direction over the past month than they lost in the Second Chechen War, which lasted 10 years in the period 1999-2009, said Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the operational-strategic group of troops (OSVG) ''Khortytsia'', RBC-Ukraine reports.

"Near Pokrovsk there were 7,000 irretrievably lost Russian fighters in January. If we compare, according to the official declaration of Russia - the Russians lost 6,000 people in the Second Chechen War, "which lasted nearly a decade," the spokesman points out.

He adds that these losses did not occur during the storming of the city, but during attempts to bypass it.

"In other words, they are losing in one direction in one month as much as they have lost in modern local wars," Tregubov commented.

According to the spokesman, Pokrovsk still remains the hottest point of fighting in Ukraine. Over the past 24 hours, nearly 54 military clashes have been registered there. Tregubov notes that the Russians have not advanced much near Pokrovsk in the past month.

According to the General Staff (GS) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), 133 skirmishes took place on the front over the past 24 hours, and 54 attacks were repelled in the area.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, Oleksandr Syrsky, reported that in January the defense forces neutralized 15,000 soldiers in the Pokrovsk area.
