Netanyahu: Palestinians in Gaza should be given the opportunity to voluntarily leave the enclave - 1

Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip should be given the opportunity to voluntarily leave the enclave if they choose to do so. This was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a conference of leaders of American Jewish organizations at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem.

"Why don't we give the people of Gaza a choice? Let them leave", he said.

According to the head of government “over the past two years, 100,000 Gazans have left the enclave.

"The rich can leave, but if the rest also want to, let them do it. We want to give them the opportunity to reach a safe zone. If people want to emigrate, that is their choice," Netanyahu added, quoted by the Ynet portal.

The prime minister instructed a negotiating team to travel to Cairo on February 17 to discuss the further implementation of the Gaza deal, the prime minister's office said.

"As agreed with US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the negotiating team to travel to Cairo tomorrow to discuss the further implementation of the agreement. "Following tomorrow's discussion in the government, the negotiating team will receive instructions to continue consultations on the second stage," the statement said.

As the Prime Minister's Office announced earlier on February 16, Netanyahu assured Witkoff that he would convene Israel's political-military cabinet on February 17 to discuss the second stage of the hostage release and ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
