The Electrohold Group and its owner Eurohold Bulgaria AD launched a joint initiative with the Minister of Sports Georgi Glushkov and some of the leading sports federations in the country, the purpose of which is to attract support and funding from business for the development of sports and young athletes and talents.
The initiative was presented at the Sports Charity Evening, which took place on June 5 at the National History Museum in Sofia. The organizer of the event is Free Media Group – owner of several leading sports sites, including BGbasket.com, BGvolleyball.com and tennis24.bg.
The Charity Evening was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Georgi Glushkov, heads of federations and clubs, Bulgarian sports stars, public figures, figures and sports enthusiasts, business representatives. Among the guests were Bulgaria's volleyball stars Lubo Ganev, Dimo Tonev, Teodor Salparov, former tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova and Bulgaria's number one racket at the moment Victoria Tomova, the captain of the national basketball team Pavlin Ivanov and others. An urgent commitment abroad at the last moment did not allow the presence of Alexander Vezenkov – the second Bulgarian basketball player in the NBA after Georgi Glushkov. There was also a raffle with sports items and autographs from the stars.
At the Charity Evening, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Eurohold Asen Hristov announced additional financial support that the Eurohold group will provide to three of the sports federations in Bulgaria – Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Bulgarian Basketball Federation and Bulgarian Tennis Federation. The total amount of aid is BGN 75,000 – BGN 25 thousand for each of the three federations. In this way, Eurohold symbolically marked 25 years since it has been supporting Bulgarian sports.
„We all played sports as children, and I was also an active professional athlete. I wish not only the state, but also everyone would responsibly start giving money to sports, because then we will see much more outstanding personalities and young people with ambition who will stand up for themselves. Leaders are built through sports, and athletes are often among the most prominent and active individuals in life. So let's invest in sports. The possibilities are many", Asen Hristov invited the business representatives present, adding that the Eurohold group he leads and its subsidiaries remain committed to supporting Bulgarian sports and are expanding their efforts in this direction from financing individual competitions to sponsoring entire federations. “We hope that other representatives of the business will join our initiative, so that we can promote especially children and youth sports,“ added Asen Hristov.
A sports charity evening is one of the numerous initiatives of Eurohold to support Bulgarian sports, the development of young athletes and talents. The group has been supporting Bulgarian sports for 25 years, and over the years it has financed federations, clubs and competitions in Bulgaria's leading team sports – basketball, volleyball, athletics, swimming, football and others, as well as the Olympic movement in Bulgaria. Eurohold is also the first Bulgarian company - an official partner of European athletics.
