The Finnish technology concern Wärtsilä presented the world's first power plant running on 100% hydrogen.

The hydrogen engine platform is based on an existing Wärtsilä and has received some of the necessary certificates. The engine, 100% ready to use hydrogen, is expected to be available for orders in 2025, with deliveries starting in 2026, the company said.

„This is an important milestone for us as a company and for the energy transition as a whole, as our hydrogen-ready engines will enable 100% renewable energy systems of tomorrow,” said Wärtsilä Energy Anders Lindberg, quoted in a company press release.

As stated on the company's website, Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and life cycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. The company employs 17,800 professionals working in more than 280 offices in 79 countries. In 2023, the net sales of Wärtsilä will be EUR 6 billion.

The shares of Wärtsilä are listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki exchange.
