Ukraine is experiencing a critical shortage of electricity. In the next 6 to 8 weeks, a severe situation is expected in the energy system “We lack domestic electricity production. In the next 6 to 8 weeks, the situation with the deficit will be difficult”, announced the general director of the YASNO company (part of the DTEK holding) Sergey Kovalenko. According to him, even the import of electricity, which has already reached maximum volumes, does not save the situation.
Kovalenko admitted that the state of the energy system changes significantly even within a day. Some NPP units are shut down for planned repairs, and consumption continues to grow.
On June 14, the head of the company "Ukrenergo" Vladimir Kudrytsky announcedthat Ukraine will not be able to restore all the damaged units of the power plants before the onset of winter. According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy, Svetlana Grinchuk, the authorities are negotiating with partners in the hope of increasing electricity imports before the start of the heating season. However, according to her, even increasing imports will not be able to satisfy all the needs of the country.
As Energy Minister German Galushchenko reported, Ukraine has recently lost a huge amount of energy. In turn, the advisor to the head of the presidential office, Mihail Podolyak, specified that the Kanevskaya HPP, the Dniproges and the Zmiivskaya TPP were damaged. The Ministry of Energy announced the complete destruction of the Tripol TPP, the largest power generation facility in the Kyiv region. According to Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, more than half of Ukraine's entire energy system is damaged. Citizens are regularly encouraged to use energy sparingly.
