The famous Bulgarian alpinist Doychin Vassilev died at 80- year old. This was reported by the journalist Ivan Popyordanov.
Doychin Vassilev is a participant in the three national Himalayan expeditions (Lhotse 1981, Everest 1984 and Annapurna 1989) and has in his career ascents of 5 eight-thousanders, although that of Shisha Pangma (8027 m) in 1999, together with d- r. Karina Solova, not to be recognized by international statistics, as the two reached the central dome (8008 m), not the main peak (8027 m).
Vasilev also climbed Dhaulagiri (8167 m) in 1995, Everest (8848 m) in 1997, Makalu (8463 m) in 1998. and Cho Oyu (8188 m) in 1999
