Parvan Simeonov: Radev's role is constructive - 1

There is a relatively clear perspective for a government. By handing over the mandate, the president somewhat confirms that there is some possibility of it happening.

This was stated by Parvan Simeonov from the sociological agency "Measure" to the FOCUS agency.

He noted that the delay in handing over the first one by President Radev was in support of efforts to form a government. "It seems to me that Radev's role is constructive, he seems to be part of the attempts to have a government. The clear date for handing over the mandate seems to me to be a sign that there is such a perspective", Simeonov added.

According to him, the minority government option is the best option for all participants in it. "First of all, it is good for Borisov, because he wins and will in practice have a GERB government. This is an attempt by the BSP to cash in on its death, because it seems to me that the embrace with Borisov means something like the beginning of the end and the left is pragmatically doing its calculations. For Slavi Trifonov, it would be one thing to participate in a government of national salvation, because there is no other choice, it is another to participate in a government with GERB, the BSP and Dogan's party. This seems too systematic to me for a previously anti-systemic party. That is why I am looking at ITN with the greatest curiosity," said the sociologist.

New elections for "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – DPS" according to him would mean an even lower result for the party. Therefore, it is in their interest to support a minority government.

According to sociologist Delyan Peevski is trying to sabotage attempts to form a cabinet in every possible way, as he is one of the few political leaders who are interested in new elections. "At the same time, however, let's not be naive - even if a government is formed, I think that the people around Peevski will find some tolerance. They have always succeeded in one way or another", he commented.

The PP-DB coalition, for its part, gets the opportunity to be the opposition to this difficult format.

"In general, it seems relatively convenient for everyone and to some extent even seems logical. Bulgaria is representative with this potential configuration for the entire Western world," added Parvan Simeonov.

The challenges facing a possible government are many. First and foremost, these are the budget and changes in the judiciary. "If this passes the judiciary, then even the State Security Service can tell it as a success, because in fact their agenda will have been fulfilled. Even the cordon sanitaire can be told as having happened", the sociologist said.

According to him, several things can blow up the minority cabinet – Slavi Trifonov, Boyko Borisov himself or the Constitutional Court with the entry of "Velichy" into parliament.
