Yesterday, another former Finance Minister – Assen Vassilev from the PP calculated that we already meet the criterion and insisted that the government submit a request for a new report within two weeks.
„The government now has two weeks to request a convergence report, after which the procedure for setting a date for our country's accession to the eurozone will begin“. This is what the former Finance Minister from the PP, Assen Vassilev, wrote on his Facebook profile.
He refers to the released inflation data for December.
„According to these data, the average annual inflation in Bulgaria for the last 12 months is 2.6%. Following the established practice of the EC, Bulgaria already meets the inflation criterion for membership in the eurozone (with the exclusion of one country that has 1.5% below the average inflation for the Eurozone)“, he explains.
