With 18 votes "for" the Supreme Judicial Council postponed the election of the Prosecutor General. The promulgation of the changes to the Judiciary Act is expected to be published in the State Gazette, BNT reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prosecutorial College proposed to postpone the election of the Prosecutor General until the entry into force of the Law amending the SJC.

The procedure for selecting a new Prosecutor General was undermined by the urgent changes to the Judiciary Act. Therefore, the question marks surrounding what the senior magistrates will do remain. Of key importance for the magistrates' decision is whether the changes will be published in the State Gazette today.

Yesterday, the representative of the SJC, Boyan Magdalinchev, admitted the possibility that the procedure could be terminated. According to him, it is likely that it will be stopped, and it seems least likely that an election will still be held.

Meanwhile, a protest has been announced in front of the SJC building against the election of Sarafov.
