USA, Trump, "Magnitsky - what to expect? Boris Yachev in front of FACTI - 1

The USA has a new president in the person of Donald Trump, and literally the world is no longer the same. What to expect… Boris Yachev, leader of "Conservative Bulgaria", speaks in front of FACTI.

- Mr. Yachev, the USA has a new president in the person of Donald Trump, and we have a new cabinet. Are Bulgarian politicians ready to respond to the challenges that Trump has posed to the world?
- Regarding the influence of Donald Trump in Bulgarian politics, it seems to me appropriate to paraphrase the popular saying:"Women want to be with him, and men in Bulgarian politics want to be like him.“ There must be men in Bulgarian politics who also want to be with him… This is in the realm of jokes, of course. Trump's influence in Bulgarian politics began to be felt tangibly since the end of last year, when he won the elections. It has become fashionable in Bulgarian political circles for known and unknown political heroes of ours to connect with him, as if he were a close friend from the recent past, with whom they have similar views on various issues. However, things have taken on quite comical dimensions around Donald Trump's oath. Who was invited and who wasn't… The most ridiculous, in my opinion, was the statement of former President Plevneliev, who announced that he was not invited to the oath, but even if he had been invited, he would not have gone. He was not invited, but if he had been… Ridiculous, simply… Kostadin Kostadinov completely took us for fools after issuing an invitation that he received very late. There was hardly two or three hours before the oath and there was no way he could go. Apparently the postman got his address wrong. It's as if we don't know how letters are sent in the civilized world. Kiril Petkov, known as Kiki the Liberal, even made his way to the States to take pictures with a crowd of thousands of Trump supporters, and then tried to convince us that he was almost very close to Trump. Funny and ridiculous. Of course, these attempts at demonstration only betray the heavy complexes that weigh on the Bulgarian political elite.

- On his first day as president, Trump signed many decrees. Which one impressed you the most?
- Trump declared that there are only two genders - male and female.

- This was a direct blow to the Istanbul Convention...
- Not only that. It was also a response to liberal Europe. With this decree, in addition to defining both sexes as immutable, because they are based on an undeniable reality, it terminates programs and policies that support or promote gender ideology.

- How will Europe react…
- We'll see. With another decree, Trump stopped the federal government's programs to promote gender diversity, related to the LGBT community, etc. A very interesting and bold step against the background of what was happening in Europe during the Biden administration. How it became fashionable in Europe for feminized men and masculine women to become leading figures in politics. There is almost no European country in which, let's say, not at the top, but somewhere lower in the hierarchy, there are politicians with strongly different sexuality. The elegant Giorgia Meloni may be an exception, which, however, confirms this correctly. It will be interesting to see how this process of strong feminization in the governance of Europe and the European Union will develop. Let's just recall how Ursula von der Leyen selected the new European Commission commissioners. The members were not selected based on their qualifications, but on their gender.

- She was pushing for parity between men and women…
- This is what I expect to break. This attitude. Otherwise, we can't miss the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - this feminine leader. His resignation almost coincided with the inauguration of Donald Trump, whom one of Trump's close associates - Elon Musk, called a girl.

- What will we observe in Europe in this regard?
- I think it is important that at the beginning of this policy to severely limit the outrageous propaganda of gender ideology reach us and become official state policy. Let's have a categorical position of the ruling party, because so far we have had some screams of a loud party in parliament. Its behavior hardened society in this direction more than if we had a reasonable pragmatic national approach in this regard. Measures must be taken regarding gender politics and gender propaganda, especially in the educational system. The only way to oppose this is to oppose Bulgarian national values, patriarchal and moral foundations of society.

- What changes do you expect from the US administration in Bulgaria…
- There will certainly be a change in the composition of the embassy and a change of the ambassador, because it is a practice for the new president to appoint new ambassadors. The problem is not so much in the figure of the ambassador himself, but in the policy that the American embassy traditionally pursues and it has become a practice in Bulgaria. There will certainly be more attempts to steer it in one direction or another.

- Do you expect there to be new amendments to the “Magnitsky“ list, when it comes to Bulgaria?
- I do not expect there to be changes to the list under the “Magnitsky“ law. Will there be new additions to it... I cannot say. Moreover, it was seen that the inclusion in the “Magnitsky“ list has some moral aspects, but practically does not bring and does not lead to any changes in Bulgarian politics - qualitative, quantitative or personal. We see that people who are included in the “Magnitsky“ list are making dizzying political careers in our country.

- Another decree related to migration is also interesting. Europe is also facing this problem. How will things develop with refugees?
- This decree by President Trump marks the beginning of solving the problem of migration. A decree that was expected. A topic that was among the pillars of Donald Trump's campaign. This decree marks the beginning of mass deportation and which is directly related to the mood in Europe regarding migrants. The rich countries in Europe also experience a problem with migrants, just like the USA has with Mexico. A large part of European countries are also so heavily congested by the problems created by migrants. It's just that the USA, represented by Trump, will take decisive action to strengthen the border with Mexico, there will be mass deportation. Trump also signed an executive order to revoke so-called birthright citizenship, but the court is yet to rule on this. Declaring cartels as terrorist organizations is another strong step, because this automatically means that they will now be prosecuted under a specialized law in the United States on terrorism. Just yesterday, a survey was released in the United States, showing that 66% of people - including people in a state like Texas, which is not so affected by mass migration, support Trump's decision. And all this is happening against the backdrop of anti-migrant sentiment in countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, etc. in Europe. Even the new German government is expected to be different from the previous one and to correct Merkel's mistake, which opened the doors wide to migrants and said: "Come, we'll handle it..." Europe failed.

- If Europe starts to return migrants more aggressively, where does Bulgaria stand in this situation…
- In terms of Bulgaria's domestic politics, we don't have any particularly big problems with migrants. Unless you take a walk in the old center of Sofia in the evening - around the Lion's Bridge, around "Maria Luisa" and the Women's Market, to see that this is not exactly the case. Refugees are not there during the day, but in the evening it is different. When rich European countries start to get rid of migrants, part of this flow will be directed to countries like Bulgaria. At the moment we are not so attractive, because we are not a rich country, but we are still on the periphery of Europe.

- Trump promised a golden era for the USA, and for the world…
- Trump is bringing American egocentrism back to the political scene. Trump announced that he was ending aid programs to other countries, and the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio defined the policy as follows - – “… every dollar we spend, every program we fund, every policy we make must be supported and justified by an answer to three simple questions: Will this policy make America safer, does it make America stronger, does it make America more prosperous?“
I think that these Bulgarian politicians who want to measure themselves with Trump should take this as their motto. To show the healthy Bulgarian political egocentrism, because Bulgaria comes first. And to work the way Trump works for America.
