Parvan Simeonov: The challenge for the government is not to go in a revanchist direction - 1

The challenge for this government, which advertises itself as regular, is not to go in a very revanchist direction. This was warned by Parvan Simeonov, founder of the sociological agency "Myara", in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio. He commented on the distribution of the chairmanships of the standing parliamentary committees and the appointments in the second echelon of power.

"That energy from 2020 against the GERB model has not dissipated, but is standing and looking for a new owner. GERB survived and if they are wise, they will know this and will not rewind the spring. I hear that Boyko Borisov, who has this sense, is traveling around the country to see the terrain. It became clear to him that the party is important, he owes his political longevity to it and he goes out on the field. He has run the strongest campaigns when he goes on a tour alone," Simeonov pointed out.

And he added that the biggest problem of the political environment is when you start hearing only your own.

"The challenge here and in the US is not to get into revanchism. Yes, there is the pendulum effect, but anyone who decides that this government is some kind of full-fledged political comeback will be mistaken. I remind you that the dirty work must be done, whether it is involuntarily or reformist. This majority faces the huge question - will the eurozone be resolved? If it is concerned with its own survival, then the compromise is not worth it. The dirty work must always be done by someone - Bulgaria must reform, difficult management decisions must be made, as for the eurozone. "Such formulas only make sense if they are formulas for difficult decisions," commented the creator of "Myara".

According to him, one should not forget that the most complex formulas and those that are difficult to achieve for governance turn out to be the most stable: "The small partners will have a hard time letting go of the dance, they will play it to the end, because there is no other dance. Trifonov has such experience in overthrowing governments and he succeeded, he returned to the National Assembly. Now there will be a big shake-up in the coming days, because each of the appointments will be examined under a magnifying glass. And the problem for the DPS - Dogan party will come out.".

Simeonov explained that almost all political formations in the National Assembly are winners from the created formula: "Peevski is interested and behaves helpfully, the PP-DB did well, because they could have split if they had entered the government. "Vazrazhdane" is perfect for him - he gets a great target. Borisov is already in power, this is the real end of 2020, because until now he was only with the liberals, and with the new winds from Washington he changed the game."

The sociologist believes that the topic of "Ukraine" will no longer polarize political parties "after Trump and because it has been consumed."
