The European Commission has initiated 7 criminal procedures against Bulgaria for not fully transposing some directives and regulations. Brussels has sent official letters of notice to Sofia, BNR reported.
Our country has not fully implemented the rules for the exchange of data between law enforcement authorities in the EU. They aim to improve the prevention, detection and investigation of crimes in the community.
Therefore, police officers in one member state must have equivalent access to information in another EU country. We have also not implemented the rules for communicating forecasts of air pollutant emissions.
Another procedure against Bulgaria is for the authorities not fully transposing the Successive Chains II Directive, amending the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive. It aims to introduce proportionality in the application of the debt buffer.
Bulgaria has only notified partial implementation of the rules on gender balance on corporate boards of listed companies in the EU.
The target is 40% of the underrepresented sex among non-executive directors of large companies listed on the EU stock exchange and 33% among all directors.
The Commission is launching infringement procedures for the fact that our country has not fully implemented the rules on ferry safety.
Another procedure launched against Bulgaria is related to the fact that the rules on the special VAT regime for small enterprises have not been implemented. The Bulgarian authorities have also not notified the implementation of the rules on VAT rates.
Bulgaria has two months to reply to the letters of formal notice.
