Ideology is becoming less and less important in politics, after the BSP, SDS-GERB - parties with completely opposite views - came together in a coalition government. On the other hand, the support of the fourth player in this government is also strange. This was said by the deputy chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council (SOS) and co-chairman of the "Blue Bulgaria" coalition; Prof. Vili Lilkov on "Denyat ON AIR".
"If a person reads the government program, he can calm down. When I look at the first steps of the government and their hesitations, especially regarding the Eurozone, I am pessimistic. The agreement states that one of the goals is the Eurozone. There is hesitation even in the first steps of the government. This year is decisive in terms of our entry into the Eurozone. The arrival of climate change in Europe may bring to power parties that are not so friendly towards Bulgaria", he commented.
According to Prof. Lilkov, GERB must state that they will do everything possible to enter the Eurozone.
"There is a fear of reformist policies. There is a fear of not fulfilling the populist promises made in recent years. The government is hostage to all populist politics. Politics is responsible for the future. We will know them from the budget. We are dependent on the central budget. If the national budget is voted on by March 1, we will enter into a serious debate by the end of March or the beginning of April," the deputy chairman of the SOS told Bulgaria ON AIR.
"The mayor has not yet submitted a management program. There is hesitation in the behavior of the ruling majority. We are also waiting for the so-called structure of the municipal administration, which will show what the priorities are and what the readiness for reforms is. The mayor is late. The money must follow the projects. I expect the mayor and the Municipal Council to start a serious dialogue with the parliament and the state on changes to the parameters of the Law on the Development and Construction of the Sofia Municipality. There are more than 40 deputies in the National Assembly who are elected from Sofia, they must be representatives of the citizens in the capital," commented Prof. Lilkov.
Regarding night transport in the capital, he indicated that the mayor intends to return the decision of the Municipal Council to cancel some lines and to reconsider this issue.
"We need to link this issue to the loss-making lines in general in various directions and move towards optimization", the guest noted.
