The omnipresent role attributed to Peevski fits perfectly into his strategy – it helps him attribute to himself the power of a demiurge, which he does not possess either institutionally or electorally. His influence is being exaggerated in an absurd way by the people who are his fiercest opponents.
This opinion was expressed to the Bulgarian National Radio by Boryana Dimitrova, manager of the sociological agency "Alpha Research".
"Mr. Peevski very generously uses the word "Sorosoids" and at the same time declares himself as one of the most zealous Euro-Atlantics. The term "Sorosoids" is part of Kremlin propaganda. Borrowing the arsenal of Kremlin propaganda, he uses it in the name of some Euro-Atlanticism, which is complete absurdity," she said regarding the proposal of the DPS-NN to create a commission to investigate the activities of George Soros in Bulgaria.
Dimitrova called this "a very opportunistic, improvised, bricolage strategy, to which, however, there seems to be no clear answer from the other political forces", and "the very talk in such a direction - harmful, hateful, dividing Bulgarian society talk".
She predicted that a large part of the parties in parliament would not support a crackdown on civil society organizations, but emphasized that this is a type of "communication error that saturates the public space".
After 4 years of continuous political crisis and permanent readiness for elections, the dominant relations and talk between politicians are of lurking and accusations. They continue to exist in this situation, the sociologist believes.
Many barriers have fallen in our National Assembly, she stated regarding the manifestations of aggression in parliament.
"I don't see our politicians being able to keep their cool. By losing their cool, they are taking away parts of the very meager public trust that remains."
The accumulation of irresponsibility and negligence, because there has been a lot of temporary power in recent years, could turn out to be a problem that could explode the entire country, Dimitrova expressed her fears.
It is very difficult to work with this contradictory government - in terms of programs, visions, values and characters within. The talk supports a second line - that it could fall apart at any moment. There is a very serious fear that even the slightest mutual suspicions and frictions could turn out to be the button that starts blowing up the government, commented Boryana Dimitrova on the show "Politically Incorrect".
On the topic of the introduction of the euro, she sees "chaotic, not very consistent attempts, accompanied by pressure not to let this happen, an effort to put things in order".
According to her, the question is whether we are heading towards continuing the country's European integration or towards a halt, and it is not known how far this halt will extend.
Dimitrova highlighted differences, captured by sociologists, between attitudes towards the euro and the practice of using it. The practice of using the euro does not show such levels of anxiety as the attitudes of those surveyed. In her words, there are "artificially instilled fears that are reproduced in sociological surveys".
According to Dimitrova, "we will be able to say very clearly who is for what" by seeing what kind of budget will be submitted - whether it will be "luxurious", because everyone wants to live well and "the small aids given now turn out to be very bitterly paid for later", or will there be a 3% deficit so that a report on the eurozone can be requested.
The budget would also be an indicator of "the imminent or several-month-deferred collapse of this government", she added to the picture.
The big problem of the BSP is not who will lead it. The big battle and drama is that they have a constantly decreasing number of voters. Its electorate is being sucked away by parties like "Vazrazhdane" and MECH. The BSP is left to rely only on the people who have been loyal over the years, Boryana Dimitrova noted.
"The battle to be a leader without an army is a pretty sad picture. The BSP's big problem is who it represents."
