The SJC plenum decides on the procedures and rules for direct election of members of the council. The session today was convened by Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev. The mandate of the current Judicial Council expired more than two years ago. 11 of the SJC members are elected from the parliamentary quota.

In this way, the new procedure for electing members of the SJC is practically launched. According to the new amendments to the Judiciary Act, the procedure must start within 6 months of the texts coming into force.
