The competition committee for the selection of the Chief Architect of Sofia held its first meeting, at which it reviewed the submitted documents and technically checked whether the candidates meet the requirements for the position. Candidates can complete the missing documents.
At the next meeting, the committee will review the newly submitted documents and make a final decision on which candidates will move forward in the competition. The list of admitted and rejected candidates from this stage will be published on March 13.
During the meeting, a discussion also began on the evaluation criteria and the system for forming the candidates' results. The criteria will be published after their adoption on March 19.
At the suggestion of the Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev, the committee adopted the questions that will be asked of the candidates during the interviews to be made public in advance. All members will be able to make suggestions for specific questions. The interviews will be held in open houses and will be broadcast online so that everyone can get acquainted not only with the expert preparation of the candidates who have reached this stage, but also with their vision and ideas for the city.
“We are looking for a professional who looks in the same direction as us, who knows the law and knows how the administration operates, who understands the city, abides by the law and knows how to turn our vision of a sustainable and functional urban environment into reality“, said Mayor Terziev during the meeting. The mayor of Sofia shared his expectation that the new chief architect of Sofia will continue the reforms that have begun and make them sustainable. And last but not least, to transform his unit into a professional, effective, transparent and responsible administration that works quickly and correctly with citizens and investors.
