Milan and Roma ended in a 1-1 draw in one of the derbies of the 18th round of Serie A, with the match being full of tension and missed opportunities in front of both goals.

Milan took the lead in the 16th minute after a beautifully constructed attack. Yusuf Fofana passed to Alvaro Morata, who returned the ball to him, and Fofana found Tijjani Reinders in the penalty area, where the Dutchman unpreparedly checked Svilar for 1-0.

Two minutes later, Milan missed doubling their lead. A quick counterattack found Alex Jimenez, who passed to Alvaro Morata in an advantageous position, but the Spaniard shot inaccurately.

Roma equalized in the 23rd minute with a magnificent goal by Paulo Dybala, who finished from the air after a pass from Dovbik.

At the end of the first half, Milan coach Paulo Fonseca was sent off for violent protests about a refereeing decision after Nicolo Pizzilli played controversially against Tijani Reinders in the Roma penalty area and the “Rossoneri” wanted to get a penalty.

In the second half, Roma had a chance to win, but Nicolo Pizzilli missed a good opportunity in the 78th minute, and in the 85th Stephan El Shaarawy shot dangerously, but Mengian demonstrated class and saved.

After the draw, Milan remains in eighth position with 27 points, while Roma is tenth with 20 points. The “Rossoneri” have a match on January 3 in Saudi Arabia against Juventus for the 1/2 final of the Italian Super Cup, while the “wolves” will host their eternal rival Lazio in a symbolic home match for the Rome derby on January 5.
