Former Levski coach Stanislav Genchev practically failed to attract „Gerena“ to the national team of an African country, claims „Mach Telegraf“. The footballer, who also has Portuguese citizenship, was targeted for attraction back in the fall. The midfielder has a profile that is exactly what the „Blues“ need at the moment – he plays very well as an inside midfielder, and is also very good at organizing the game in the middle of the field.
The „Blues“ management talked to Genchev about whether they wanted him in the team, but the coach hesitated with the answer. „Let's think a little more“, „We'll decide“, „I don't know if we need him now“. At that time, the price of the midfielder was quite affordable - less than 300,000 euros. After Levski delayed the offer, other offers were received by his club. And this automatically raised his price, which rose to a million euros. Thus, in the end, the transfer of a very high-quality footballer to Levski failed.
As is known, the “blues“ seriously messed up with the attraction of new players. At least six of those approved by coach Julio Vezcas and executive director Daniel Borimirov are currently refusing to accept the “blues“ offers, waiting for more advantageous invitations.
The Spanish coach insists on the rapid attraction of two inner midfielders, believing that this is precisely the weakest area in Levski at the moment. The matches since the beginning of the winter training have also shown that the “blues“ have a huge problem in the midfield, with the available Ikenna and Mislovic far from the required level. Mitkov and Ohene are recovering from injuries and it is not clear whether they will be ready for the first matches of the spring season. And the first of them is a home game against the champion and leader Ludogorets.
