Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was "kicked out for talking about his book" during his guest appearance on the British "Channel 4" program dedicated to the US elections, said one of the presenters of the show, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, quoted by PA media and DPA.

Johnson was kicked out after he brought the book of his memoirs there and began talking about them minutes after the start of the live broadcast under the title: "America Decides: U.S. Presidential Election.

The anchor of the news on "Channel 4" Guru-Murthy told Johnson to "get it on" the book and urged him: "Stop, that's enough," after the former prime minister had twice previously spoken about his memoirs.

The presenter called Johnson's actions during the program "very unfortunate".

"There is nothing you can do to stop me... I have a right to talk about my book," he declared in turn.

Later, during a panel discussion, Johnson said he had met with former US President Donald Trump after the assassination attempt on him in July.

"In case I forgot to mention, I am promoting my book "No Holds Back" (Unleashed) and I talked to him about the issue of Ukraine," he said.

Asked if he would follow in Trump's footsteps regarding his political comeback if he wins the presidential election, Johnson said: "The answer is obviously in ``No Holds Back,'' where you will find the full discussion of that topic.

The other host Emily Maitlis replied: "We're not all going to read the book, tell us if you want to go back to politics... You're not answering any of our questions.

Johnson replied, "By the way, Emily, I answered all your questions tonight. I am currently engaged in promoting my book "No Holds Back", available in all good bookshops."

Later on the show, Boris Johnson was replaced by Michael Cohen, who was Trump's lawyer.

Guru-Murthy told viewers that "Boris Johnson was kicked off the show for talking about his book.

60-year-old Johnson promotes his memoir "No Holds Back" after their publication last month.

The 784-page book examines Johnson's time as Prime Minister - from 2019 to 2022 - as well as "Brexit" and the covid pandemic.

Guru-Murthy hosts the channel's first nightly US election program since 1992 alongside former "Newsnight" Maitlis.

Political pundits and a number of celebrities, including Johnson, joined the hosts in the Washington studio as Americans decide whether Democratic candidate Kamala Harris or Republican Trump will become president of the United States.

Guests on the show included Republican supporter and reality star Caitlyn Jenner and Stormi Daniels, the woman at the center of Trump's hush money lawsuit after the two had an affair.
