US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former House of Representatives member USA Doug Collins for the post of Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

„We must take care of our brave men and women in uniform. Doug will be a great advocate for our service members, veterans and military families, making sure they have the support they need,” Trump said in a statement released Thursday by his transition team.

Collins served in the US House of Representatives from Georgia from 2013-2021. He served in Iraq in 2008.

This ministry has the second largest number of employees in the US federal government after the Pentagon. Its medical centers annually treat about 9 million people who have previously served in the US armed forces.

Trump also announced the nomination of his lawyer Todd Blanche for the position of Deputy Attorney General of the United States. It is the second most important position in the US Department of Justice.

„I am pleased to announce that Todd Blanche will serve as deputy attorney general in my administration,” Trump said, expressing confidence that Blanche could "fix the nation's broken justice system".

Blanche served as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York for nine years. He then began work at the law firm of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. For the past year and a half, Blanche has represented Trump and defended him during his trial for falsifying financial documents in the payment of money to former porn actress Stormy Daniels.

For the position of first deputy assistant attorney general of the United States (the third most important position in the Department of Justice), Trump nominated his fellow lawyer Emile Beauvais. In addition, Trump nominated Dean John Sower for solicitor general / attorney general/ of the United States, former Missouri attorney general from 2017 to 2023, who later represented the president-elect in a case that resulted in the US Supreme Court ruling that Trump has partial immunity from prosecution. The US Solicitor General is the fourth most important position in the Department of Justice and represents the government's position in cases before the US Supreme Court.

Trump refused to invite the head of the American financial corporation JPMorgan Chase Jamie Dimon to his future administration.

"I have great respect for Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, but he will not be invited to join the Trump administration. Thank you Jamie for his outstanding service to our country," the future president wrote on his Truth Social page.
