Supporters of Argentine President Create Armed Group of 'Loyal Soldiers - 1

A group of supporters of Argentine President Javier Millay has announced the creation of what they call an armed wing of his libertarian party. The group describes itself as loyal soldiers determined to defend the far-right politician's agenda, Reuters notes.

"Heavenly Powers" ("Las fuerzas del cielo") were launched late Saturday by Miley's prominent supporter, right-wing influencer Daniel Parisini, who dubbed her "the Praetorian Guard" of Mileus, after the elite military unit that protected the Roman emperors.

In the US, armed militias supporting the newly elected President Donald Trump, whose supporter Milley is, have become politically active in recent years, Reuters recalls.

Although Parisini described the group as "armed," neither he nor other influential supporters displayed weapons at the event in Buenos Aires or in the video announcing the news of its formation. The libertarian influencer, who helped Miley win the election by organizing an online campaign in support of his candidacy, said the new group would compete for elected office with the president's party ahead of parliamentary elections expected next year.
