During his official visit to the USA, the President of Taiwan Lai Ching-te emphasized the importance of peace and called for joint efforts to prevent war, reports News.bg.
„There are no winners in war, and peace is priceless,” Lai told members of the Taiwanese community in Hawaii.
It was part of his tour that included three Pacific island nations that maintain formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
Lai's visit began by laying a wreath in memory of the victims of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. at the USS Arizona Memorial. The Taiwanese leader noted that the memorial is a reminder of the importance of peace and stability in the region, emphasizing the need for efforts to prevent future conflicts.
After Hawaii, Lai will continue his visit to Tuvalu, Palau and the Marshall Islands. In addition, it will make a stopover in Guam, which is also home to important US military bases in the Pacific region.
