New PM in London: Britain won't choose between EU and US - 1

< p>The UK will not have to choose between the US and the European Union due to Donald Trump's return to the White House. This was stated by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, BBC reported.

In his words, his government will "never give up" from its partnership with the US and promised to build stronger ties with Europe.

He also stressed that the world was facing "dangerous times", arguing that stability was essential for growth, so the UK should continue to support Ukraine against Russia "as volatile, increasingly -desperate aggressor". There is no growth without security - and there is no security without alliances, the British Prime Minister is categorical.

According to Starmer, "against these dangerous times, the idea that we have to choose between our allies, that somehow we are either with America or with Europe, is completely wrong". He noted that the national interest of the country necessitates working with both countries.

There has long been speculation that US President-elect Donald Trump could launch a trade war against Europe and reduce support for Ukraine, even for NATO. Under such circumstances, analysts suggest that Britain will come under pressure from the US and Europe to take sides.

In the Prime Minister's words, relations with Europe are vital for Britain's security and prosperity. Starmer insisted it was "deeply in our self-interest" to support Ukraine against Russian President Vladimir Putin, because "the future of freedom in Europe is being decided today".

The UK is now "determined to fight harder on the world stage for our national interests and is prepared to dig deeper to protect them," he said, adding that a victory for Putin would harm "our own security, stability and prosperity".

Keir Starmut noted that "now is the time to strengthen our security as the bedrock on which the economy rests - and the ultimate guarantor of everything we hold.
