Belarus has several dozen nuclear warheads. This was stated by the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, stressing that he personally “brought“ weapons in the country, quoted by News.bg.
During a visit to the Pozhsnab LLC plant in Borisov, Lukashenko announced that Belarus received the Russian "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missile system.
“I have warned all my enemies, “friends“ and rivals: if you cross the state line, the response will be immediate. I'm not going to look at whether it's a nuclear weapon or something else,” declared the Belarusian state leadership.
Last week in Minsk, Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an interstate treaty on security guarantees. The agreement, which Putin described as a “document of key importance”, includes mutual commitments to protect the sovereignty, independence and constitutional order of both countries.
One of the main points of the treaty concerns Russian tactical nuclear weapons located on the territory of Belarus. Lukashenko also proposed the deployment of the new Russian missile system “Oreshnik” in the country, and Putin said that this could happen in the second half of 2025.
The “Oreshnik“ missiles deployed in Belarus will be part of Russia's strategic missile forces, but “defining the targets will depend on Minsk”.
On November 21, Russia used the Oreshnik missile system for the first time to hit the city of Dnipro in Ukraine.
