Volodymyr Zelensky: Ukraine needs 10-12 more Patriot systems to fully protect its airspace - 1

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country needs 10-12 additional Patriot air defense systems to fully protect its airspace, Reuters reported. quoted by BTA.

Zelensky was speaking after a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye today that killed at least three people.

Using allies to use frozen Russian assets to finance supplies, he told reporters: "Please take money from Russian assets - it will cost 30 billion. But it will completely close our sky."

He called the strike on the city of Zaporizhia "brutal" and issued a new appeal to the Allies to supply Ukraine with air defense equipment.

"The world has enough (air defense) systems to do that. The issue depends entirely on political decisions: the decisions of the US administration, European leaders and other partners around the world," the Ukrainian president wrote in "X", adding that Ukraine has presented its allies with the list of necessary elements.

A little later, Zelensky again called on partners to supply Ukraine with more air defense equipment, Ukrinform reported.

"Air Defense should save people, not collect dust in storage bases,", he pointed out.

The Ukrainian president made his appeal in his traditional evening video address.

Russia regularly strikes the city of Zaporozhye and the region of the same name, Reuters notes.

At least four people were killed and 19 wounded, according to the latest figures from local authorities cited by AFP, in the Russian missile strike that destroyed a private clinic in this Ukrainian city. Many other people were buried under debris, officials said.

Reuters recalls that 10 people were killed and more than 20 injured in an attack on Zaporozhye on Friday.
