Russian President Vladimir Putin had the final say on the production and use of the "Oreshnik" missile, giving direct instructions to do so despite disagreements within the Defense Ministry.
"There were different points of view on this issue within the Defense Ministry. In the end, I joined those who believed that it should be produced – and I gave direct instructions to allocate the necessary resources and agreed with those who believe that the time has come to test it in combat conditions“, Putin told journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“This is part of my job“, the president concluded.
After the attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on Kazan, Putin said that “the enemy will regret it and will face even greater destruction“.
“Whoever tries to destroy something in our country will suffer many times greater destruction for it and will regret what he is trying to do here“, Putin assured.
“We will not only repair the damage that someone is trying to cause us, but we will move forward at an even faster pace. We will develop the road network and urban development, we will build housing“, the president assured
Putin also noted that Kazan is developing “at a speed that many in many countries can envy“. “I look at this with great pleasure. I want to thank the builders and the entire construction sector of Tatarstan for the successes that the republic has demonstrated in recent years”, Putin addressed the head of the region, Rustam Minnikhanov. “I am confident that you will restore everything that was damaged by our enemies“, the president said.
