The Kremlin categorically rejected as false media reports that the wife of former Syrian President Bashar Assad - Asma Assad, has filed for divorce and plans to leave Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
At a press conference, Peskov also denied claims that Bashar Assad has been banned from leaving Moscow and that his assets have been frozen.
„No, this is not true,“ the spokesman said in response to a question about whether the media rumors were credible.
The Assad family was granted asylum in Russia this month after Syrian rebels captured Damascus on December 8 in a lightning offensive.
