In a week in Ukraine, the Russian army lost as many soldiers as the USSR in Afghanistan in 9 years - 1

The Russian army in Ukraine has suffered record losses in recent days, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry announced.

The occupiers' losses last week amounted to 12,580 soldiers, Kiev announced, the highest number of casualties in a week since the start of the full-scale war.

The Soviet Union lost about 15,000 soldiers during the nine-year war in Afghanistan. In Ukraine, [the Russians] faced such losses in just one week, the Defense Ministry announced.

These figures have not been confirmed by independent sources. According to Ukrainian data, since the beginning of the invasion, the ZSU has eliminated 776,090 Russian soldiers. In two months, it will be 3 years since the start of the war.

The Russian army has occupied nearly 1/5 of the territory of Ukraine, including the Crimean peninsula, to date. Against this background, WP writes that the coming to power of Donald Trump in the USA and the difficult situation for the Ukrainian armed forces on the front are forcing Ukrainian President Zelensky to soften his position in future negotiations with Russia.

Zelensky recently admitted that his army does not have the strength to return Crimea and other occupied lands by force, expecting this to happen in the future through negotiations. At the same time, Kiev claims that it will never recognize Crimea and Donbas as Russian territories under international law.
