Ukraine received a tranche of $1 billion from Japan and the UK under the World Bank's "Development Policy Loan" (DPL) program, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.

"Ukraine received $1 billion from Japan and the UK. The tranche was provided through guarantees from the governments of these countries under the World Bank's ZPR program, Shmygal wrote.

According to him, the funds will be directed to strengthening the Ukrainian economy and financing priority social and humanitarian needs.

The Prime Minister thanked the World Bank and the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom for their strong support for Ukraine and their contribution to strengthening its resilience.

Today, Shmygal also announced that next year Ukraine is expected to attract over $38 billion in external financing to cover the most important non-military budget expenditures. In addition, the country will receive funds from frozen Russian assets.
